Can we talk about what’s happening in Scotland yet?
WHY IS THE REST OF TUMBLR NOT SAYING A WORD ABOUT THIS
Because it may not be true.

Don’t believe a word of what the BBC report on Scotland. The people who live and are around the area are telling a different story.
Look, we can talk about what’s happening in Glasgow, because it’s pretty insane. We have crowds of people on George Square being segregated by police, half of them wearing Rangers gear and singing ‘Rule Britannia’ at the top of their lungs, while the rest seem to be milling about. The police presence was significant. It’s scary as hell, particularly in a country that should be united within themselves, regardless of whether or not they wanted to stay part of the UK as a whole.
You can read about it here http://www.itv.com/news/update/2014-09-20/six-arrests-after-clashes-in-glasgows-george-square/
as well as on the above BBC link I already posted.
From the Herald link above:
“Many of the demonstrators are drunk and a lot of them are young people, some of school age. At one point a group of young girls with Yes saltires on their faces were chased across the square by a gang of heavy middle-aged men sporting Union Jack flags and shouting abuse at them. In another vicious scene, two men both with flags of the opposite persuasion began fighting and the crowds had to pull them apart. A car carrying a union flag was attacked as it stopped near the square, with the flag being grabbed and smashed through the back window. A female passenger said: "We were sitting at the lights and this guy came along, grabbed our flag and cracked it through the window. "He was calling us names, saying we should go back to England, then he ran off. I am really angry.” Some of the demonstrators with Union Jack flags around their shoulders and holding bottles of alcohol shouted at the Yes supporters: “We won fair and square. Royal standard. God save the Queen.” Many Scots have taken to Twitter to voice their disgust at the unfolding scenes. Rachel Murphy wrote: “What is happening in George Square just now is disgusting/sickening and heartbreaking. Everything that is wrong with this country.” While Kenny Stewart Tweeted: “Describing what’s going on at George Square as a Yes/No thing is nonsense - it’s a bunch of bigoted thugs taking advantage of a situation.” Samantha Hepburn added: “Such a shame that those loyalists in George Square are affiliated with the no campaign. I for one want nothing to do with them. Disgusting.”“

(note: this was before the fire, which was on Renfield Street more or less opposite the Cineworld up past Sauchiehall street, so on the other side of Buchanan galleries from where the main protest was taking part. I’ve also heard of protesters going up Buchanan Street, but not venturing onto Sauchiehall street)
I don’t know whether they’ve found evidence of the fire at the Herald being set by Unionists. Last I heard, as I posted above, the Herald didn’t know either.
I’ve also not seen any confirmation of the reported stabbing of a Yes-supporter on Buchanan street. If it happened it is of course horrible - but there’s been no confirmation by the police or the media, only rumours spreading like wildfire in Social Media. They could turn out to be accurate, but as yet there is NO CONFIRMATION.
So in summary: What is happening in Scotland, specifically in Glasgow, is horrible. More people should be talking about it. But please, I understand it’s hard when passions are high, and it’s easier for me because I don’t live in Scotland any more, but try to remain critical of what you hear.
Alot of people don’t want to talk about it because we all saw it coming however we don’t know/understand why the no voters are the main ones rioting when they won the referendum
